A Pivotal Point in My Life
My first memories of “touch” began on my 13th birthday, a very pivotal point in a young girl’s life! I came down with the flu! I was so depressed that I couldn’t celebrate my special day. My older sister, Dawn, sat with me and started rubbing my feet. She told me that once I was feeling better, we would have loads of fun. Her sweet touch and kind words made me feel better, and since then I realized the deep connection of human touch and how it can change the way you feel.
It always seemed that at some point during family gatherings I would end up rubbing somebody’s shoulders. I would create “massage trains” where we would sit one in front of the other and rub each other’s shoulders. One of my favorite pictures is of family and friends rubbing each other’s back and shoulders and it currently hangs in my session room.
I Decided to Change My Life
In 1995, as I was sitting in my windowless cubicle, I was thinking to myself “is this all there is for me?” Literally at that moment, (remember there are no coincidences) a friend called me and invited me to an open house at a massage school in Culver City. I signed up that night and have never looked back.
Education
I am a graduate of the Institute of Psycho-Structural Balancing in Los Angeles, California. I also hold certificates in many different modalities and workshops completed at IPSB, The Massage School of Santa Monica, The Massage Center and Thai Massage from the Thai Massage at the Institute of Thai Massage in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
In 2017 I received my certification in Reflexology through The American Academy of Reflexology and I am also a National Board Certified Reflexologist.
I continue to take classes in both massage and reflexology to keep myself up to date with what is new in the field. I have discovered that I just love to be a student again, to learn new things and grow.
Work Experience
I started my career in 1998, working at various chiropractic offices and spas. All the while working on building my private practice. That is truly where my commitment lies, being the best therapist I can be for my clients. No matter what else I do, my private practice always will be my number one priority.
I am also an educator at a local massage school and teach specialty massage classes in Business Practice, Ethics, Chiropractic Massage and Thai Massage. Teaching is something I hold dear to my heart. I love to see their passion and excitement and be able to share my knowledge and experience with others while they are on their path. It’s very special and makes me so happy to have this honor.
I have a strong background in chiropractic, deep tissue, Swedish, Thai and therapeutic massage and love to use the therapeutic values of aromatherapy and hot stones to enhance my massage sessions. My specialty is to design a massage and/or reflexology session that is specific to your needs at that time, using a variety of techniques and always making your main concerns my priority.
Something Personal About Me
I have been very happily married to the man of my dreams, Tom since 1997! We have a wonderful life together doing all the things we love to do; hanging out at home in our back yard with our doggies and chickens, hiking together, cooking together, wine tasting together, traveling together… well you get the idea, we like to be together! Tom has always been and continues to be so very supportive of everything that I do. Sometimes with raised eyebrows, but always behind me 100%!!! I am a happy girl when I am with my family and friends, dancing, hiking or doing yoga and of course when I am able to share my love and passion of massage and reflexology to others.
